Hey Peter.
So, what are you going to call this blog after you return to the Mainland? :)
I've enjoyed looking at your photos. Very nice work.
I tried posting a comment awhile back, but apparently forgot my password or username & didn't have time to mess with it anymore.
Anyway... I hope to make it to Kauai someday too. I also hope to try kayaking.
How do you like poi? Have you tried any other luau foods such as lomi lomi salmon, squid luau, lau lau, or opihi?? Hopefully, if you haven't yet, you will get a chance to go to a REAL luau :) (not the tourist kind).
Thanks for sharing your photos & adventures with us!

OH, and raw fish! How could I forget raw fish? Kamalani's favorite, but I don't like it. :)

I don't know what it'll be called... maybe 'memories of kauai'?

poi is not my favorite... :P

I don't think I've eaten any of those but I did try poki, which is... odd to think about but not too bad-tasting.

Is Kamalani from Kauai or a different island?

Hi Peter. I just saw your comment today. Yeah, I think that poi is an acquired taste. :) But I have found that some poi is more sour than others. If it is a little sour we add some sugar. Well, Kamalani adds A LOT! :) That is supposed to be a haouli (sp?) thing to do, but he does it & I always tell him, "have a little poi with your sugar." :) We are starting William early on poi. He had his first poi at 4 months & seems to like it just fine (we keep some in our freezer).
Oh yeah, the raw fish is called poki (or Poke?). Yeah, that is what Kamalani loves & I don't like it. Mostly due to the texture not the flavor.
Kamalani is from Oahu. The big city. :)
